Announcing support for the CC13xx and CC26xx MCUs

Announcing support for the TI CC13xx and CC26xx MCUs in our firmware development system.

The CC13xx and CC26xx SoC families share the same low power but highly capable ARM Cortex-M3 MCU core and peripherals.  These SoC parts integrate radio MAC and PHYs on-chip to facilitate IoT LoWPAN connectivity paradigms including:

  • BLE
  • ZigBee
  • RF4CE
  • 6LoWPAN
  • 802.15.4
  • Proprietary

Focusing on sub-GHz LoWPAN's, the CC13xx family offers a complete IoT node solution for longer range or challenging radio environment applications using protocols based on 802.15.4 sub-GHz PHY standards.

The CC26xx family offers a complete IoT node solution for networks consisting of 2.4 GHz protocols and PHYs including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) / Bluetooth Smart based technologies with iBeacon and Eddystone, as well as all 802.15.4 family protocols.

These devices come in packages as small as 4x4 mm and can offer years of battery life from a single coin cell in some applications.

The CC13xx and CC26xx devices compliment our existing MSP432 and CC3100 platform support solutions to offer a complete end-to-end IoT device roll-out strategy that includes secure, scalable and low-power end nodes and gateways with cloud connectivity and remote device management including robust OTA firmware updating for any IoT application.

Our firmware reference designs supporting these new platforms while showcasing interesting secure, scalable and low-power IoT applications will be rolled out to our GitHub repository.
